In my mind, the movie Equilibrium has a strikeing resemblence to the novel. The setting of the movie takes places years in the future, however, people in this world are forced to take these drugs that repress human emotion. It is ruled by a facist govt that believes that human emotions is the cause for war, hence the drugs. Freedoms are outlawed, and theres an underground operation, much like the brotherhood, but less subtle. One man slowly begins to feel, and stops takeing his drugs, hideing them through his home. In my opinion, it bears a striking resemblence symbolically to 1984, even the plot seems to hold some ties to it. It wouldnt be a surprise to me if this movie was inspired by the book.

V for Vendetta is a film that is derived from 1984 and has the same ideas as it. You can see the connection between them because first of all the government controls everything. Also there is a Big Brother kind of figure but everyone knows who he is. There are even messages of Victory over terrorists when they actually lost. This movie obviously plays around with the ideas of 1984.

I think the movie Antz has some simliar ties to the book 1984. The way that the ant are society and determines everyones carrer and class, but when one ant tries to become a soldier the do not let him but he keeps on trying to become a more impotant person. I think this represents the prols int 1984 becuae since the ants who sare choose to be low class ants are not allowed to ever become more then that as oppesed to the higher ants like the prty can become more powerful and others less powerful

I think that the movie and 1984 have many connections. The one that stands out the most to me though is thought crime. Even though the movie isn’t exactly thought crime, it’s similar. They can predict if you’re going to kill someone or not. Therefore the police come and take you away out of the blue. You will never know if they are coming or not.
