There used to be a time when a talented teacher with vision received a few pats on the back at the end of their career. Or if Hollywood deemed their inspirational story to be an 'opus' or worthy of a soundtrack.
Today, however, great teachers with vision receive the feedback/attention they rightfully deserve within weeks, within months, and well outside the echo chamber of the double-loaded corridor of cinder block classrooms.
Such is the case with Karl Fisch's recent post where he wonders when his recent presentations looking at the future of education suddenly went viral, global, neon, up to 11. He says that its probably more the "sniffles" than something truly viral. I'd disagree.
He's changed the way people see. Think. Feel. Wonder. Imagine. And he didn't wait until his retirement dinner to see that unfold in retrospect.
I continue to use his "2020 Vision" video with every school design conference/workshop I am fortunate enough to be asked to give. And soon I'll be using it even further-afield of 'education' as a framing exercise in planning the future with other businesses/industries that can't afford to remain myopic. That's the beauty of what Karl created in these 3 future-think videos -- what Scott McLeod mashed up later -- is that it's a lens for seeing the future for all. Everywhere.
Answers? No. But man, the questions are brilliant!
