We are proud to say that Beckett-to-Be is now officially and without a doubt here!
Born at 7:09 pm tonight (9.6.05), the 'little' guy rang in at 8 lbs 4 oz and 21 inches.
Took only 36 minutes from the first official 'push' to the baby's first cry. 36. Yes, just 36 minutes. The doctor almost didn't have time to change into her scrubs.
With enough hair that the doctor created a mini-mohawk as he was being born (I laughed hard enough to forget my count as Karla's coach momentarily), Beckett almost didn't need the knit hat they gave him.
2 ears, 10 toes, 10 fingers. All appropriately placed, too. Small things...but good to confirm.
The moment he was given to Karla, he stopped crying. In fact, he didn't cry once the whole evening (after the first few minutes of his birth). Just followed voices with his eyes the entire time.
As I've said a few times in the past, THIS is where the 'future of learning' really begins.
Thanks to all who have been generous with their kind wishes over the months leading up to tonight. The second phase of a remarkable journey has only begun and the support along the way has been humbling. For now, its time to collapse and get back to the hospital as quickly as I can in the morning to see the 2 most precious souls in my life. Goodnight...
Congratulations Christian! So excited for you guys. What a journey you're beginning...looking forward to hearing more about this little dude.

So many thank you messages to send out to so many of you who have taken time to send emails, Skype, call, email, and in general find carrier pigeons to wish the baby, his mom, and I well.
I'm delirious (sp?) with joy and lack of sleep right now, but wanted to reach out a hand/smile of appreciation to each of you! I'm going to do some work part-time tomorrow, and begin blogging again here at "think:lab" next week once a bit of sleep comes our way. In the meantime, if you're curious, you can find out a bit more about Beckett, mom, and the great 'infant' moments at the other blog that helps to keep track for family and friends: http://thinklab.typepad.com/becketttobe/
Again, thanks! You'll never know how much it matters to get support from so many corners of the real and virtual world!
Cheers, Christian

Many gazillions of congrats to all three of you! My son is 23 years old and I remember the moment when we were three. Frankly, I also remember how I did not get enough sleep for the next decade. Welcome to parenthood!

Cogratulations to you and Karla (sorry I'm so late).
Don't worry, this won't change your life at all ;-)

No doubt by now you have figured out that the human body can indeed operate on three hours of sleep a day. Just wanted to pass on a way to go Karla... oh and you too. Looking forward to lining Beckett up with Gabriel on one side and Jaxson on the other! Enjoy the opportunities! Cheers.
